Arsenal star Samir Nasri will do anything to banish the memory of France's disastrous European Championship - even if that means missing the Muslim observance of Ramadan.
The young midfielder has spent this weekend World Cup qualifier against Austria as the perfect time to show that France is still a superior force in international football. "People often say to me that the euro is a bad experience, but not as I see it," Nasri told reporters at the team's training camp on Tuesday.
"When you experience failure as a young person who does not try to reproduce the same mistakes," he said.
"We're in the mood for revenge and want to do well to show another side (for our game), one with more quality than you saw in the Euro."
Nasri said that it will not participate in Ramadan, the Muslim practice of fasting during the day during the ninth month of Islamic calendar. "I will not be celebrating the Ramadan. It's hard to Daylight Savings Time. And with back-to-back games is not good for the body."
The former Marseille star said he was enjoying life in London, not least because it has found a real home. "It's going well. The environment pleases me: they are all young, and many of the players speak French. In the dressing room speaking English is complicated: among the French, the Swiss guys, Africans and the coach, the whole French-speaking world!
"In the field in our last match (Saturday 3-0 victory over Newcastle) saw the true style of Arsenal. It's a real pleasure to play in this team."
He added: "I hope to bring something for the team. Playing for Arsenal, which evolve with the cream of European football, and as a result reach the level of the French team."
Nasri confidence will come as an encouragement to scrutiny under coach Raymond Domenech, who on Tuesday was bullish ahead of two crucial games. "I do not have the feeling that the pressure is less than in previous years," he said.
"I've always approached the game to tell myself" this could be the last game. " Upon my arrival in 2004, I am not sure that pressure is less. "
Last month, Domenech importance to rumours that he had been given an ultimatum points for the upcoming qualifiers, as the French football federation (FFF) look to the South Africa tournament correct the Euro 2008 flop.
Domenech, 56, has rejigged his squad due to injuries - in Marseilles crashes Hatem Ben Arfa and Patrick Vieira and come in Rennes' Jimmy Briand and AC Milan's Mathieu Flamini. " 'Pat' (Vieira) is still a great player but was injured and everyone hopes that return," the former Arsenal player Flamini said.
"I want my chance to show what I'm worth. It is for the coach to decide, but I want to shine."
France begins its World Cup qualifying campaign against Austria on September 6 and Serbia on September 10.
