Valencia 3-0 Vence to Mallorca with good football, Emery returns to peace Mestalla

The Valencia was reunited with his best version a week after inexplicably missed the Super Cup against Real Madrid. Anyone who suffered what was Mallorca who only endured standing just over half an hour, which took Villa to beat Moya, kills four minutes later put the lace edging and Vincent, in the final straight, topped with the final 3-0 that was a boat ride over the second act.

For the vast majority, resulting in an sorpresón not see Hildebrand low sticks, but Emery does not quaked pulse the least and left the German ... in the tier. The goal Bavarian expensive paid his poor performance during training a week over the six goals he received in the overall Super against Real Madrid.

The responsibility fell on Renan, bronze in Beijing with Brazil. Despite carrying only three trainings to their backs with their new colleagues Renan was at the height each time the Mallorca gave him mine.

Because all Balearic orphan stars as Güiza or Ibagaza, gave only war in the first act. Perhaps their new gunners were still missing sharpen their aim, but to keep the ambitious and combative attitude of the first tranche, will end with good note at the end of course. Whoever provides for having tied up-and well-tied to its stars is Valencia. Villa and Silva make a difference by far. If that you join the push of a couple of 20 years as Mata, present and future well-pint in Mestalla.

The Valencia felt bound to overcome their initial examination of the League after bofetón received a week ago at the Bernabeu. Met the Reval. He did so by harassing the opposition side of Mata and Pablo Hernandez, brilliant. It was the alternative to the lack of fluidity of the game in the middle field, where Baraja, who broke the 20 minutes, and Albelda, saw the ball move like a tennis match.

With the game crazy, intense, relentless, from side to side of the field, Valencia came close to opening the scoring in a play produced in the laboratory Emery, a stationary ball.

Pablo Hernandez drew a corner raso the first step; Villa, with its back, attended Mata, who stuck with the soul to Moyà was showcased. Mallorca was overwhelmed by moments in the best moments of Valencia, which increasingly tightened, although boys were in Plan de Manzano respondón. Trejo drew a walk from the canyon the crescent and Renan flew to clear. Arango put the second bullet, but the tight leather left to the right of the Brazilian goal.
Patience is transformed into goals

The Valencia is not despaired and continued loading this game by the sides under the baton of elegant Silva, a real delight. The canary seemed to stop time when four defenders Mallorca released a precise pass to the inside of his boot in the direction of Pablo Hernandez. The end crashed the ball to the second suit. Moyá measured wrong exit and Villa put their heads to get ahead of his team.

The Spaniard broke a streak of seven years unmarked in the opening day. It may be an excessive punishment for a brave Mallorca. It happens in football that the pasted and so is almost everything that can be assumed under the Valencia with its emblem in Villa streak.

Because of the boots of the second Spaniard was forged both. Overwhelmed by the left flank, fired with toughness and clearing Moyà, loose, it hunted for Mata beat, also head, the Mallorcan goal. In four minutes of inspiration Valencia had cleared the aguerrido Mallorca, which could have cut differences is not because the post made him a wink to Renan in a powerful launch of insistent Trejo.

Valencia did not fail to arouse Mallorca in the resumption. It maintained the concentration and intensity for the occasion, the least of which is laid at the Bernabeu when was the winner of Super Cup. Tighten the Mallorca mercilessly. It was recreated before a rival surrendered and broken. At the finish line two players refresh as Angulo and Vicente produced the game's third goal.

After a horrific start of season-two defeats in the Premier, before Manchester United (1-0) and against Chelsea (4-0) and another in the Community Shields, in Wembley, against United, Portsmouth Harry Redknapp managed to lift head at the expense of Everton, who defeated with a resounding 3-0 home.

They signed the needed victory for the 'Pompey' international Jermaine Defoe, with two goals, and Glenn Johnson, taking the team from the bottom of the standings. It was, by contrast, a serious blow to the whole of Liverpool, which has gone from being in the ecuador of the table placed in drop zone. The goal of Portsmouth, David James, was crucial to its workforce since succeeded in curbing this commitment penalty shot that he launched Yakubu.
Debut without goals from Borja Valero

There was, however, disputed goals in the match between Bolton Wanderers and West Brom Albion, the club owner who debuted as the Spanish Borja Valero, one of the new summer signings this club, from Real Mallorca. The Spanish, who stayed on the field until 58 minutes, and had the opportunity to taste the flavors of English football with its incursion into the defeat suffered in the 'Carling' Hartlepool before the mid-week.

The Hull, the novice came from the English Second Division, who starred in a brilliant start in this division after the surprise Premier with two victories in the last two commitments, was unable to sustain that level of play. The Wigan, his rival, he Golea pleasure and sentenced to such a clash with a resounding and painful 5-0, thanks to a goal in their own goal gave Samuel Ricketts and many of lethal Ecuadorian Antonio Valencia, the Egyptian Amr Zaki ( scored twice) and English Emile Heskey.

Prediction Score Bolton v West Brom 1-0 or 1-1?

Premier League, round 3; Bolton Wanderers (9th, 3pts), West Bromwich Albion (18th, 0pts); Saturday, August 30 (1500 BST); Reebok Stadium, Bolton

Prediction Thomas Mathew, goal.com, Bolton v West 1-0

Bolton, playing at home, will be looking to take all three points from the newly-promoted side. West Brom on the other hand, will be desperate to get off the mark and could see Bolton as their first realistic opportunity to chalk up some points. Bolton will struggle to find the net without Elmander leading the line whilst Tony Mowbray last week bemoaned West Brom’s lack of strike power. The Baggies have bagged only one goal in their two games so far this season and that came from the penalty spot. Mowbray may well be ruing the departure of Kevin Phillips, who has had no trouble scoring for his new club, Birmingham City. It is therefore unlikely to be a game of many goals. Premiership experience and home advantage may result in Bolton scraping a victory. A fairly even game could end in a 1-0 victory for Bolton. West Brom may leave feeling, once again, hard done by. Mowbray would be further exasperated by his sides apparent lack of firepower, especially if Kevin Phillips nets again in the Championship.

Vence 2-1 to Manchester in the finals of the Super Europe, Zenit threat to Europe

The goal from Danny is the best reflection of what happened on the pitch: a Manchester apathetic and half-hearted, with depression postvacacional, none was left before a Zenit aware of its possibilities, bristling with faith and able to achieve its second European title.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who is not yet recovered from his ankle operation, saw the match from the tier. Arshavin, what started from the bench. The two stars of their respective teams were mere spectators. The Russian was a bit more than that, jumped to grass and was part of the comparsa Slav, but only reminded one atom of the Euro in its first game, then declined.

Danny, with its target, summed up the match. The Portuguese went down with his chest a ball in the center of the field was turned, and continued to advance without opposition. Passivity red favored him and continue his career, accompanied only by the ball. Once in the area left Ferdinand, but with little faith. He cut and beat Van der Sar with a cross shot. That was United, a substitute for the flamboyant champion of Europe and the Premier. The carelessness of the English they took a European title, as happened on the pitch, gave them laziness win.

Only Tevez showed claw and enough pride to turn his team 'Supercampeón', but before eleven aguerridos warriors Russians, he met a losing battle. Vidic tried to join the cause, but its position of central defence options to bring their biases mordant in the attack. Even so, the Serbian was leading the only halo of hope for the British to achieve 2-1 (precisely to pass Tevez).

The Zenit was the antithesis. A lesson in football and power that only flaqueó in the bars final, where it paid the physical effort. Progrebnyak gathered at the edge of the rest to reward effort and Danny, when party, noted the goal of tranquillity. In the final minutes saved Zenit forces to defend against and exit to where Danny was about to sentencing.

When missing a minute to rest, tied Manchester. But so was illegal. In a desperate attempt, Paul Scholes took his hand and got a ride golazo, but failed to deceive the referee (or anyone). The infringement was shocking and showed the second yellow for him. The Russian dream become a reality soon.--elmundo--

He will have no difficulty in adapting to Serie A and return him to his best at San Siro. "

Ronaldo recognized as the best in Europe

Cristiano Ronaldo, the key figure in Manchester United FC to progress in the Uefa Champions League glory last season, had more to celebrate today after collecting the Uefa Club Footballer of the Year prize for the awards ceremony in Monaco. The Portuguese international forward was also selected as the Best Forward while there was some consolation for Chelsea FC, the United side overcame in Moscow in May, as Petr Čech, John Terry and Frank Lampard were nominated for the Best Goalkeeper, Defence and Midfield, respectively .

Sensational season

Ronaldo scored the goal in the United Luzhniki Olympic Stadium - its 42nd in all competitions in a prolific club campaign - and although subsequently lost in the penalty shoot out, the United States bounced back to become champions of Europe for the third time. It completed a sensational season for Ronaldo, who finished as the Champions League Uefa the eight-goal top scorer and also claimed the ESM Golden Shoe having beaten 31 Premier League goals as United retained their title. The 23-year-old claims of AC Milan Kaká as the Club Footballer of the Year and is the second Portuguese international to land the prize after Deco in 2004. As he reflected on the stars who have previously received the accolade, Ronaldo said: "It's a pleasure to be part of this wonderful group of players. To win this award is great for me and I am very proud. The Champions League is a great level and be one of the best players is great. "

Forward Accolade

Ronaldo also became the second United player to take home the prize after David Beckham in 1999, while Ruud van Nistelrooy was voted Best Forward, while at Old Trafford in 2003. Asked what was the secret of her success, Ronaldo replied: "Work. I think Manchester had a great season and scored many goals. I am very proud to be the best forward as far as I played - is very good for me and gives me more ambition to be better. Thanks to all my colleagues and those who voted for me. "

Chelsea cheer

Čech, meanwhile, beat off the competition from United's Edwin van der Sar, Manuel Almunia, Manuel Neuer and Pepe Reina to lift the Best Goalkeeper gong for the second consecutive year and third time overall, after being honored in 2005. He was presented with his trophy Peter Schmeichel, the winner of the inaugural award in 1998. His abiding memory of the season was perhaps his role in the Uefa Champions League final penalty shootout. He said: "Of course it is difficult because it is only up to me and the five players who shoot. But I tried to remember what he had seen the videos he had seen and what I had spoken with other goalkeepers. This is what I was going through my mind. "

Terry honour

Terry, who was handed his prize Franco Baresi, has been voted Best Defense in 2005 but is no less delighted by his last silverware. "For me personally is an incredible achievement," he said, adding: "To be a great defender you need a lot of attributes - to be fast, strong, good in the air and that they also need large amounts of his companions around and I am very fortunate to have that. " One of my colleagues, Lampard, became the first player of Chelsea - and only the second English-based footballer Beckham after nine years ago - to take the midfield applause, given out by Sir Bobby Charlton. He said: "It feels very good. When you see players who are against, some world class players. I've been up for the award three years so it's nice to finally win."(uefa.com)

Prediction Score Manchester Utd - Zenit St Petersburg (UEFA Super Cup) 2-1 or 1-0?

UEFA Super Cup (Champions League winners v UEFA Cup Winners); Man Utd (5th English Premier League) v Zenit St Petersburg (6th Russian Premier Liga); Friday, 29 August Kick-off: 1945 BST; Stade Louis II, Monaco

Prediction Score Graham Lister (goal.com) -- Manchester United v Zenit St Petersburg 2-1

Both managers have promised attacking football, Ferguson saying: "The Super Cup means no pressure on either team. It's prestigious but provides a platform for the players to go out and enjoy themselves.

“Zenit's attacking play captured a lot of people's attention last season so hopefully it turns out to be a really exciting and attacking game, and I think it will be. Many people will make us favourites but that won't affect our preparations." United are indeed favourites, and without Arshavin to inspire them Zenit could find this a tough hurdle to overcome.

Gallas back for Arsenal ease through

William Gallas produced the perfect response to his critics as the captain of Arsenal booked their place in the side of the Champions League group stages with a rare goal on Wednesday to win 4-0 against FC Twente.

Gallas captaincy credentials had already been questioned after its merger against Birmingham last season, so when the France defender of evil gifted Fulham scored a shock victory on Saturday was, inevitably, the subject of some harsh words from fans and experts around type.

But Gallas headed for example, in the third qualifying round second leg against Twente. He was excellent in defence and scored with a second-half tap after Samir Nasri gave Arsenal the lead at the Emirates Stadium. Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner scored in the final stages to put Arsenal 6-0 to seal the victory total.

It was their strongest performance of the season and Arsène Wenger has the desire Gunners could play Steve McClaren's team every week. Wenger gave his players a rare dressing after the loss on Saturday and Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue appeared to pay the price as the trio were sent to the bank.

Cesc Fabregas, back from a hamstring injury, replaced Eboue for his first competitive appearance since helping Spain beat Germany in the Euro 2008 final in June. With Fabregas back and tie under control after the first stage, it was an ideal opportunity for the Gunners to start his season. After a weak start that began to rediscover some rhythm.

Robin van Persie Nicolay Mihaylov tested with a low free-kick before Johan Djourou poked average ample opportunity for close-range. Van Persie should have hit the target when the pure cut Fabregas gave the Dutch striker a clear sight of goal but his wild shot sailed over the bar.

Thump Wenger has its headquarters in frustration after the loss but was soon at his feet on holding a much more clinical finishing in 27 minutes. Nasri had no trouble settling in his post pre-season move from Marseilles France and the extreme, which scored on his debut against West Brom, gave another view of its potential.

Van Persie was the catalyst as he won possession on the edge of the penalty area Twente. His address was given Nasri, bad feet with two defenders before firing a sublime turn in a low shot which took a slight deflection past Mihaylov.

Fabregas from Arsenal turned deception, of course, so missing against Fulham. A perfectly weighted pass from Spanish Bendtner sent clear, only for the Danish striker tripping over their own feet while trying to shoot. Van Persie ido even worse when it somehow shot wide with the goal at his mercy after executing Walcott Unhinged the Dutch defence.

This was the first visit to Arsenal Middlesbrough McClaren from his team were beaten 7-0 at Highbury in 2006 and the former England coach was heading to another Thrashing. Gallas enjoyed his moment of redemption on 52 minutes when his rampaging deadline Bendtner. The forward's shot was blocked and recovered by Mihaylov Gallas to slot home.

Walcott received a reward for threatening the screen when exchanged passes with Bendtner and curled a low shot past Mihaylov in 66 minutes. Bendtner close range strike from Denilson's backheel on 89 minutes capped defeat. Perhaps Wenger hope to Thursday to draw for the lucrative group stages with a little more enthusiasm.

The special also cree that can shed some light on why Sheva never settled in west London. "In Milan was like a prince," said Mourinho. "But at Chelsea we had a different philosophy. We were all equal and that operates a meritocracy. That's why I think he has lost faith in itself."

It earned a total of 5-1 and win the Brazilian is already earmarked for more, saying: "Physically and mentally we are at the top. My dream is to win the Champions League and I hope that soon become reality."

Juve were far from their fluent best in Slovakia as its leadership has allowed them to take their foot off the pedal, a fact that did not escape Claudio Ranieri. "We played very well in Turin, but perhaps the four-goal margin we stole some of motivation," he said. "We try to win the game tonight and that was not successful but in the end we achieved our main goal, so I'm very happy. Wenger wants' first class' Arsenal screen

Arsenal FC has a two-goal cushion against FC Twente in its attempt to secure an eleventh consecutive Champions League for the Uefa group stage appearance, but a setback early in his national campaign has ensured that there will be no complacency.

Second half goals from William Gallas and Emmanuel Adebayor gave Arsenal victory in the Netherlands two weeks ago but on Saturday 1-0 defeat to Fulham FC raised questions about whether Arsène Wenger's young squad can sustain a challenge for the European and national honors this season. The manager is hopeful of reversing the weekend was merely a blip at Craven Cottage and declared: "We have a great game on Wednesday night and we must respond with a high quality of execution."

Wenger morale was improved by the possibility that Cesc Fàbregas could return from a hamstring injury on Wednesday in a midfield Shorne summer departures of Mathieu Flamini, Aleksandr Hleb and Gilberto. Tomas Rosický followed with a similar problem, while defender Abou Diaby has a thigh injury, but Fàbregas - fresh from victory in the Uefa Euro 2008 ™ - is not only thinking about the return against Twente, but the possibility of another final Rome come in May. "We do not have to be afraid of anybody," he said. "We have seen in recent seasons we can beat anybody you have to be positive. You have to believe that you can do it again, at least go to the finals."

In his first competitive match under Steve McClaren, as well as its debut in the first European club tournament, put Twente on a good show for the opening hour against Arsenal in Arnhem before being undone. "It was our lack of European experience, and that's why we've lost," said the former England manager. "I hope we can play well again, because we want to improve. If we do, then the results in big matches as they come."

Making the task even more difficult is the hamstring tear suffered by striker Marko Arnautovic under-21 duty for Austria last week, especially in 2007/08 Twente's top scorer Blaise Nkufo remains suspended and the right of return Luke Wilshire , Who also began the first phase, has been sold to FC Dinamo Moskva. Twente are yet to start its domestic season, but on August 16 last lost their warm friendship of Spain 1-0 to the UD Almeria. However, enthusiasm for Twente's first trip to England since a 3-2 Uefa Cup loss to Manchester City FC in 1978 has not diminished.(fifa.com)

Juve complete the mission draw with Artmedia

FC Artmedia Petržalka's dream of repeating their Uefa Champions League 2005/06 adventure died as Juventus completed a total comfortable victory over Slovak holders drawing 1-1 in Bratislava.

The last rites had already been read over Artmedia campaign 4-0 after their first leg defeat in Turin, however, Vladimir Weiss's team woke up briefly to take the lead on the night across from 14 Branislav Fodrek at minute goal. Normal service was resumed in this third qualifying round tie when Amauri equalised eleven minutes later. The 5-1 victory sent Claudio Ranieri's side Thursday in the group stages draw.

In Weiss end of the game before devoting their energies full time to Slovakia's national team, sending a perfect consideration as a possible Fodrek produced an acrobatic finish past goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon of Branislav Obžera of the pass. Juventus was the immediate response: firstly Amauri headed against the post, he asintió next Pavel Nedvěd the brilliant cross beyond L'uboš Kamenár. Artmedia has overcome Celtic FC and FK Partizan to reach the Champions League Uefa the proper three years ago, but the goal of Amauri marked the end of this latest attempt.

Even so, the 13000 crowd at the stadium Tehelné Pole witnessed a brave performance driven by midfielder Obžera. Substitute Juraj Halenár might even have won the day with a 88th minute chance he missed, although Kamenár pulled off a fine save from Amauri at the other end. The departing Weiss said: "A draw against Juventus is a good result. We may have to wait several years before another club Slovak notes with a club the size of Juventus." With the Bianconeri return to the group stage after two years of exile, Nedvěd midfielder was satisfied with the outcome: "This is exactly what we wanted. Now we're going to do everything possible to reach the final in Rome."

Barca lost in Krakow (1-0), but be in the Champions League, A defeat unimportant

The Barcelona fell in Krakow (1-0), but the 4-0 achieved at the Camp Nou de Guardiola allowed to get into the group stage of the Champions League.

In a knockout sentenced from the first leg, Barca had little to play in Poland. An alternate, as' Pedrito ', or Pedro, were rubbing their hands in search of an opportunity, but left Poland with the calves cold and a defeat unpretentious disaster.

Guardiola preferred to rehearse with the owners, so prepare the first game of the season with the elect. But no Messi forced the technician to try a strange center of the field, with two players cut by the pattern Makelele ': Keita and Toure.

Xavi and Iniesta played more freely, dedicated to what it with the personnel moves and touches of color, drawings, centrocampistas bajito and cool. With its details, Barca began to play to the beat of his two metronomes, crowned by a Henry in the role of Henry.

Only defensive failures were reminiscent of last season and last. The sad reminiscences, threatening, with just the 'art for art' Catalan. Victor Valdes, 14 minutes, gave him a ball on a plate to Lobodzinski, who squandered the opportunity with a presumptuous Vaseline.

Entremedio, Henry moved, and Eto'o converted the star has been, is and will be. For the right banda, Dani Alves climbed steadily, 'Remolon' in the end, recalling their happy times in Seville.

After the break, the gamble on details magic turned against Barcelona. Cleber, with a powerful header inside the area, culminating a good corner from the right and ended with the luxury to 'machete' clean. His auction, dry and hard, ended the idyllic vision of a rival in 52 minutes and, moreover, were the little ones.

What it became was a continuous drip of inaccuracies in attack and defence, in a game with no apparent history or meaning. The Wisla after withstand the momentum of offensive Pique, who failed three times clear goal, kept the 1-0 to wake up sleeping with a vivid and happy memories. The club went as he had arrived without too much noise and thinking about the future. In view of the saw, and Messi, his destination promises.

Reject the offer of 45 million by Villa, Valencia answered 'no, for now' Real Madrid

Vincent Soriano, president of Valencia, fulfills the promise of not selling to the stars of the club at the moment. Real Madrid presented an offer by the Asturian front of 45 million euros, but the whole ché has not accepted. However, the player's agent will meet on Tuesday with club managers to clarify the situation and resume negotiations.

The player would be ready to play at Chamartin, but only the president of Valencia had to miss his word. Less than a week ago, the battering ram and his current club reached an agreement in principle by which the Spaniard would remain linked to the entity Valencia at least five more years and an increase in its portfolio of nearly three million.

However, that option is not definitive. Real Madrid tempts the top scorer of Euro blow to heel, but Valencia is unwilling to part with one of its strongholds, despite the fact that the economic suffocation of the club.

Real Madrid this season has just signed a Rafael van der Vaart to tackle this course, but also have been incorporated as players Javi Garcia and Ruben de la Red, hired last year at Osasuna and Getafe respectively.

The insistence by Chelsea gain the services of Robinho, and the player's own interests by abandoning the discipline could provide a white economic effort on the part of Real Madrid to get a strengthening in the lead, although the battering ram Spaniard does not respond to it profile as the Brazilian.

If confirmed the refusal of Valencia, David Villa would be added to the list of signings frustrated by Ramon Calderon, who already claimed the recruitment of other great players as Kaká, Cesc Fàbregas or Cristiano Ronaldo. A worrying situation for a club that seeks to host in his dressing room the best players in the world.

Fletcher believes United past Pompey

Darren Fletcher was the unlikely goal hero for the second match in a row as Manchester United won their Premier League title defence up and running with a 1-0 victory at Portsmouth on Monday.

But as soon as possible Dimitar Berbatov becomes an Old Trafford the best player of Sir Alex Ferguson. "We'll just have to wait and see what happens with that," everything was Sir Alex would say on the subject after speaking with Sky Sports, batting away neatly the issue of potential new recruits before the transfer window closes on 1 September.

Fletcher gave United their first victory of the season with a fortuitous 32nd minute strike, which may still be accredited as Sylvain distinctive own goal as the champions produced another attack to show ineffective.

United welcomed back Carlos Tevez after the Argentina lost their first day 1-1 draw with Newcastle because of a family in mourning. The victims of accidents star midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo remained on the sidelines.

Portsmouth, who paraded the FA Cup ahead of the Fratton Park fans before launching, delivered immediately debut of French left side Armand Traore after his loan move from Arsenal.

Senegal midfielder Papa Bouba Diop came close to give Harry Redknapp's side a dream start when he shot inches wide of Edwin van der Saar's right hand post with only ten seconds on the clock.

Paul Scholes forced David James into his first sense, except in minute 19 with a 30-yard piledriver esquive, which saw the veteran goalkeeper diving to his left completely left out.

Peter Crouch should have put Portsmouth in front six minutes later after being presented with a golden opportunity for some comical United defence. Scholes inexplicably broke a 40-yard pass again directly in touch and a quick free kick banda Jermaine Defoe set out on the left.

Defoe cross back Patrice Evra was at the foot of Nemanja Vidic, who slipped ahead of Crouch, but the former Liverpool striker fired directly into the chest of goalkeeper Edwin van der Saar. United were given another let off the resulting corner when Younes Kaboul was left completely unmarked only to head wide of Sean Davis from downtown.

Fletcher strikes

The European Cup holders finally showed their class by taking the lead 13 minutes before halftime, allbeit with a huge hand from Portsmouth defenders Sol Campbell and distinguished.

Patrice Evra was played across Tevez on the left wing and whipped in a teasing low cross which Campbell played against Fletcher's knee and could only distinguish a desperate hit the ball into the roof of his own network of the goalline.

Rooney was furious with himself for not extending the lead in 41 minutes. Scholes and Anderson connected brilliantly right before the Brazilian threw the ball to Rooney, who dragged his shot wide from 16 yards with only James to beat. United expect to finally bring his long summer search Tottenham striker Berbatov to a successful conclusion this week and could have done with some of the Bulgarian deceit and crafts, and badly lacking any lead in the second half.

Fletcher, who also deducted from Newcastle last weekend, came closest to adding to the scoreline in the 70 th minute when his fierce right foot volley was accused by Glen Johnson after the impressive Anderson had danced his way through the defense.

Portsmouth had beaten United in three of the five par Premier League meetings in Fratton Park, but never seemed likely to extend that proud record as its cost-gathered in front of two of Crouch and Defoe were stifled by Rio Ferdinand and Vidic.

Casta 'supercampeones'

It was a good night to approach the Bernabeu. Rather than seeing football, downloading tension, adrenaline. That was just the holidays; pit to Robinho. To you and you run your neighbor is moving to pit Robinho. It was the slogan: pit to díscola Robinho. But anger turned into joy and disbelief. The epic of past decades returned to the Bernabeu in a second part magic and the Madrid back (4-2) with nine players.

Bravo for fans who Apure your holiday or weekend and have not seen the first part or at least part of it. However, it lost a relaxing therapy consisting of expelling the bad vibrations and tension accumulated based whistles. First for Robinho. After the team, that the wrong terms in the first part: the staff and was not they who should be on vacation. And then, for the referee Iturralde Gonzalez, who threw out Van der Vaart and then not dared Albiol after a hand under sticks that prevented a goal from Van Nistelrooy.

Idleness is the word that defines the first part. Above all, for contraponerla with ecstasy, which defines the second. As if the game were a nuisance, a stone on the road to the league, both teams competed in inaccuracies, lack of ball movement and rhythm. But Valencia was the better planted on the pitch, and that earned him more gram to stay ahead on the scoreboard. In the only game in which there were three passes followed, with hilvanar criterion, and Silva fired satin Casillas, such as infected carelessness, made the statue.

On the lawn there were no vital signs, while in the tier CABRE was increasing. I had some air Machiavellian situation to rest: Is Robinho would be the lever that Madrid needed? No. It was Iturralde, who expelled by Van Nistelrooy double reprimand. The Madrid with nine, decided to play. The Valencia, with two more players and titles on their side (1-1), is laid back recklessly.

There is something more danger that the quality of Madrid: enrabietados his players, chopped on his own pride. With the passage behind Valencia, Real Madrid sought justice that the arbitrator endeavoured to snatch. Robben emerged as a pillar on which sustain such damages. Fast, destabilising, vertical or physically, gave the Dutch the night Moretti and became a dagger right.

The Madrid put pace and caste. And of course, Sergio Ramos, could not be otherwise, those values embodied in the 2-1. An auction after a corner sparked the euphoria. The epic is overwhelmed, emotions, too. The Valencia was engullido by a team that believed dead. The storm was unleashed after calm. From the Network, with a superb golazo, and certified Higuaín old values of a football from other decades, which pushes the heart and caste.

The Inter jumped to the field with more decision, reached the target and rival often was advanced in the first part with a goal from Muntari (minute 18). Meanwhile, Rome was hard to create danger, did not come to the area and was weak in defence.

The second half was more equal, the Romans improved in attack, repeatedly, until De Rossi won the tie (minute 59). But it was the young promise of Inter, Balotelli, substitute for Figo, who advanced to the premises.

But a second goal of Rome in a corner taken by Pizarro, who became the minute Vucinic 90, led the party to the extension. Without goals, despite the occasions, especially Balotelli, grief was resolved in the shoot out.

The Inter Milan took advantage of errors and Juan Totti, despite the failure Stankovic (6-5) to take the victory. Deco keeps the Chelsea at the top

Chelsea maintained the leadership of the 'Premier', tied on points with Liverpool after defeat by Wigan at the minimum (0-1) with goals from Deco, who returned to mark the second day of the English league.

The team Luiz Felipe Scolari, far from accusing the absence of the injured Didier Drogba, was tremendously effective in attack as, after goals from last week at the Portsmouth (4-0), only needed two shots to door to take the three points.

Deco ahead of the 'blues' in the absence of direct 4 minutes and the scoreboard no longer moved to the end of the match, despite numerous instances of Wigan, which Petr Cech was responsible for derailing.

For his part, Manchester City got their first victory of the season Gol (3-0) at West Ham before his hobby, erasing the bad image offered last week after falling 4-2 to Aston Villa. On the local front, Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring in minute 65 and the ten following the Brazilian midfielder Blumer Elano scored a double to round off the result. The West Ham, who played with a man less for expulsion of Mark Noble in the first half, was unable to pull to-door throughout the match and lost the opportunity to chaining a second victory that would have placed at the top of the table , Tied on points with Chelsea and Liverpool.

The second day of the Premier will be closed on Monday with the visit of Manchester United to Portsmouth, which will seek revenge for the defeat suffered in the Community Shield before the 'red devils' in the shoot out (3-1).(elmundo)

Arsenal crash in the Cottage

Brede Hangeland inflicted a major dent in the beginning of Arsenal title hopes as his goal earned Fulham a surprise 1-0 win at Craven Cottage. The Norwegian defender struck midway through the first half to hand Roy Hodgson side a deserved victory and give Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger much to ponder. The French side looked scaly and without inspiration against their neighbours in London, which avoided the drop by a hair sleeve last season, French and now is likely to intensify their search for new talent before the transfer window closed on September 1.

A new midfielder Wenger remains the highest priority - saw his team over the medium term at Craven Cottage - but some of his charges should feel sure of their place after this limp effort. Wenger, who has amassed its fair share of silver, knows that the titles are never won while the leaves are still on trees, but that may be lost.

His side showed much as two seasons ago, when a stuttering start left out of contention by Christmas, but fate seems to be smiling at the French this season. A graciously timetable, which sees Arsenal dodge all the top flight big-hitters until November, when Manchester United travel to the United Arab Emirates, represents an open invitation for a team of talent for this kind of values lot of points before the arrival of winter.

But each step in a title challenge is potentially treacherous. Arsenal had worked with a scrappy victory over newly promoted West Bromwich Albion last week and the lack of key personnel at Craven Cottage - including Cesc Fabregas and Tomas Rosicky - London derby ensured this has a more telling to him.

That impression was confirmed in a feisty first half, when Fulham gave as good as receiving, snapping hungrily at each Harrying and address their illustrious guests such good style that can be so destructive. Fulham in the industry do not translate into a Welter of possibilities, but when it did carve an opportunity, were ruthless.

In 21 minutes, Jimmy Bullard from the corner was found in the flush of the onrushing Hangeland volley and the ball crashed into the bottom left-hand corner. Arsenal are Ruffles, even with its most adventurous interpreters suffering.

Robin van Persie has missed a gilt-edged chance early, breaking wide from 10 yards after a flawless launch of Samir Nasri, and there was more frustration when Emmanuel Adebayor of the tower header in minute 23 smack his right hand mail. However, there was little concern over Mark Schwarzer in the Fulham goal and Wenger dropped shoulders and furrowed face and beyond halftime trooper told his own story.

There were at least a renewed purpose and urgency of Arsenal football after the interval, but the lead was maintained by his absence. Instead, the more likely scorers were Fulham, with Bobby Zamora flashing along the near post after running on the left of increased South Korean forward Seol Ki-Hyeon.

Arsenal upped the tempo in the stages of dying in a desperate attempt to restore parity and Van Persie almost succeeded when his low drive zipped just wide. However, if there was no dramatic rescue act and Wenger knows that, unless they act quickly in the transfer market, this could be another season of broken dreams.

Golden moment for Argentina

As an impeccable record of six consecutive victories, 11 goals and allowed only two suggests, Argentina thoroughly deserved to win the Men's Olympic Football Tournament for the second time in four years. And as the fantastic quartet of Juan Roman Riquelme, Javier Mascherano, Lionel Messi and Sergio Agüero explained to FIFA.com, the Albiceleste in the 1-0 victory over Nigeria was particularly sweet.

Aguero and Messi, soccer twins

No one can deny that Lionel Messi and Sergio Agüero have a special gift. International Pisa off the field and soulmates there, the duo have graduated through the ranks. No wonder, then, to see them celebrating side by side after the medals ceremony.

The scorer of two goals against Brazil in the semifinals, the child they call The Kun was savoring the moment. "The fact is that this is a wonderful feeling. I won the U-20 World Cup last year and now this. And to win with friends as well as Leo as well. I can not put into words."

A stock answer to win a title that might seem, but they have been welcomed by the sole and exclusive Diego Maradona, Aguero emotion is easy to understand. "It's very special to win this title, especially with Diego being here. Congratulated me and said he had a great tournament. You can not ask more than that."

For Messi, the most elusive player in the tournament, the gold medal is welcome reward after dispute about her participation in the Games. Having finally achieved their Olympic goal, the Barcelona man was happy to let off steam. "People say many things that bothers me before coming to China, everyone knows that. That's what makes this so special medal. I think Argentina won the gold because we had a fantastic team that really pulled together. You could see that on the pitch. "

Heavy emotions for Riquelme and Mascherano

The elder statesmen of the team were no less ecstatic. The 30-year-old captain Juan Roman Riquelme enjoyed a good tournament, bagging a goal in the 3-0 victory over the Brazilians, and left the Olympic stage in the best possible way. "I'm absolutely delighted because this was the last chance I had to play in the Olympics," he said. "The end was not very exciting but perhaps you have to go out and win these games. It's as simple as that. It took the medal on the plane home. I will not be taking off for anyone."

With an Argentina flag is covered over their shoulders, a gold medal round his neck and a bouquet of flowers in hand, smiling the playmaker was the picture of happiness. Asked if he wanted to dedicate the victory to anyone in particular, Riquelme was unequivocal. "Yes, the whole team, which has been so for over a month. Even though I was far from my family, I have never lost sight of our goal and win gold is incredible."

A man nearly to a loss of words was Javier Mascherano. The central midfielder was a tireless member of the team that triumphed Albiceleste in Athens 2004 and has become the first Argentine to win the Olympic gold twice. "This is just incredible," said a voice slightly hoarse.

"My daughter was not born when I won a gold medal in Athens, so I'm going to enjoy this with her. No matter what happens in my football career from now, nobody can take away the pride I feel at achieving something like this, especially in a sport as difficult as football. We won because we played attacking football and never stopped trying things. And we beat Brazil in the semifinals. It was the perfect tournament. "

Chelsea, runner up last year, the team that best impression caused last weekend, will play Sunday afternoon in the field of Wigan Athletic, where the team of Steve Bruce cree que puede dar la sorpresa. Liverpool wants to expand CCN three points over the tight victory by 1-0 in the field of Sunderland, beating at home to Middlesbrough. Javier Mascherano is still in China for the Olympic Games but Ryan Babel, which plays in Beijing by Holland, could already be back.

Jo stars like Brazil claim bronze

A strike Diego and a support Jo gave Brazil its second bronze medal in four Olympics after a 3-0 victory over Belgium in Shanghai Stadium.

Save for a good spell of pressure in the 15 minutes before halftime, the South Americans were largely in control and the scoreline was a fairly accurate description of its dominant position, although perhaps Belgium're unlucky not to score in a warm and humid night in East China.

In fact, the devil Rouges were faster off the blocks and had the opportunity as soon as the second minute when Maarten Martens' esquive right foot shot eluded almost Renan, Brazilian goalkeeper doing well to guide the ball into his arms.

Shortly thereafter, Faris Haroun fed Tom De Mul on the right side, which crossed inside the box in search of Maartens. But with the captain of Belgium to give shape to shoot, Rafinha showed great awareness to nip in front of his man and clear the ball.

Manchester City striker Jo had a great opportunity to open the scoring with ten minutes on the clock, but put his free header from Ronaldinho's corner wide of goal. The latter, meanwhile, was found in the referee's notebook on 26 minutes simulation.

A minute later, Brazil broke the deadlock. Jo, collecting possession in the middle of the field, fed the ball to Rafinha, whose cross was turned home by Diego under pressure from Thomas Vermaelen and Haroun.

After going behind, Belgium played their best football of the match. Maartens Rafinha beat Brazil in the right side and whipped in a cross with the onrushing Kevin Miralles inches away from applying a decisive touch.

The architect of that time had two good opportunities in two minutes to lift Brazil. Right-sided midfielder De Mul found the AZ Alkmaar midfielder inside the box but screwed his shot wide. Then, after some great approach play on the left, Maartens' goalbound shot - he had beaten Renan - was deflected for a corner Breno thigh.

However, with the Europeans committing men forward, gaps remained in the back and they paid the penalty of half-time approached. Ronaldinho played the ball to Ramiro right, which hit a shot inside the near post. Logan Bailly rejected, but the ball fell directly in the path of Jo, who headed the deflection into the empty net.

Trailing 2-0, Belgium coach Jean Francois de Sart made a double substitution in the 54 th minute with Maartens and Miralles from outside Mulemo Landry and Anthony Van den Borre. However, the movement had little impact, since apart from a header off the goal Vermaelen and Jan Vertonghen left-footed drive that was inches away from the goal, Europeans rarely threatened the goal of Brazil.

In a dull second 45, Brazil attacking raids were as rare as the Belgians, but substitute Thiago Silva stung the hands of Bailly with a long drive away. The Racing Genk goalkeeper was called into action again, saving smartly to deny Marcelo his second goal of the tournament.

With seven minutes of play, Sepp De Roover had a great chance to pull one back when Marcelo pasado twisted his way into the box and fired a shot through the legs of Alex Silva. The ball was rejected by Renan unconvincing's right wrist and had the opportunity ido.

Jo added the third with Brazil almost the last shot of the game, Sprint clear after being released by Diego. The tall striker exceeding Vermaelen of pace and shot threaded through the legs of goalkeeper regrettable Belgium.

It is therefore Dunga of Brazil to fly to Beijing to receive their bronze medals on Saturday night, while Belgium is going home empty handed. With this victory, a replica of the 1996 classification podium is still on the cards, giving Nigeria beat Argentina in the final on Saturday. Juventus take Trofeo Moretti

Juventus lifted the trophy Moretti without scoring a goal in open play after winning his second penalty shot against Milan. This game decided on Moretti Trophy after penalties to Juventus beat Napoli and Milan overcame the Partenopei for Alberto Paloschi winner in the second 45 minutes of each meeting.

Juve were eager for revenge after their 4-1 Thrashing in the Berlusconi Trophy, but had hardly been a night of goalmouth incident. Carlo Ancelotti stuck with a face similar to the 11 who won their opener Zeljko Kalac, but took over between the posts.

The Bianconeri began with Claudio Pasquato - who scored in the Berlusconi Trophy - alongside Amauri in the attack. Tiago Mendes, who refused the move to Everton this week, was given an opportunity in the center of the field. After only two minutes, Kalac made a fantastic save to deny Amauri headed in a goal.

And the Australian also dived to catch international Pavel Nedved of the explosion within the first five minutes. Pasquato had two efforts blocked and Tiago claimed a penalty, but his appeal was greeted away.

The Portuguese international is having another unconvincing game and making his case to stay at the club no good, while Seedorf was at the centre of everything Mian did. Everything was Juve Nedved and threatened again before Luca Antonini hooked the ball away. Nedved went to ground in pain after Milan substitute Wilfred Osuji cut his calf.

The Czech international was withdrawn as a precaution and Ranieri seemed concerned about the state of its extreme limp to the dressing room. Both sides showed a strong interest in avoiding a firefight, but nothing went right in front of goal. Kalac was alert to Amauri the cross-shot and full-time whistle went.

One evening entertainment was limited to be concluded with a second penalty shootout. Seedorf scored, albeit through Antonio Chimenti, but Ariaudo was enough to cool. Cristian Brocchi blasted high into the net before Chimenti incredibly ran to take a penalty and converted to Kalac fun.

Paloschi hit his kick in half and Nicola Legrottaglie tied despite the touch Kalac. Osuji Chimenti sent the wrong road for 4-3 but Pasquato struck again with a beautiful shot. Surprisingly, Ambrosini slipped up when captain blasted over the bar Amauri, but was unable to complete this tie as he was denied by Kalac. Giuseppe Favalli effort was also arrested by Chimenti and Cristian Molinaro found the net to win the trophy Juventus Moretti.(channel4)

England-Czech Republic 2-2: Capello focuses on positives

Fabio Capello told Setanta Sports that there are many positive aspects to emerge from England's poor 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic and he cree that will improve the proceedings shortly.

England fell behind twice and not to inspire fans to Wembley, but Capello thinks that the team did quite well and not just to cope with the visitors' counter-attacking style.

"We played the first half very well," he told Setanta Sports. "We had a lot of chances to score. I'm happy because we played a long time - an hour - that I liked, but the counter-attack the Czechs used was very dangerous. I learned that when the other team uses the counterattack, we have some problems."

With the Premier League season which has just begun, many of them are still on the side to reach full match fitness and Capello cree that was a factor in performance. "We are at the beginning of the season and some of the players are not at the top, physically. "I am sure the next match will be better." He added: "We played well. The Czech Republic is very strong."

During the game, it became clear that FA chief executive Brian Barwick - that Capello appointed in December last year - will leave his post later this year.

But asked for his reaction, Capello refused to be drawn on the announcement. "My reaction is that it is not my job," he said. "It's a board decision."
