Soclari Turns Heat on Fergie

SIR Alex Ferguson will use the old adage "It's a marathon not a sprint 'this weekend. Manchester United boss will do everything possible to remind people that nothing is won or lost in September. And, of course, is right.

The game against Chelsea will be around for pride and bragging rights as well as laying down a marker. The overall result will not have an impact on who wins the title because there is so far to go. We believe that, then in his opinion, nothing.

If you lose the Manchester United this weekend, then will sit nine points behind Chelsea, it is true that with a game in hand. But, as everyone knows in football is points on the board who matter most. It would be incredible if they lead Chelsea to win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

There is no way, of course, Fergie is pushing the panic button and you can listen to United for the experts who travel through the line after three games and are two points better than at this stage last year. But that's not really the point. In just now, Chelsea effectively self-destructive this time last season.

José Mourinho was sacked puppet master and Avram Grant was launched. Then it lost two of the next three games, including one against the United distance, and Fergie of the team were actually in the race and never looked back. However, in the two years that Chelsea won the title that got off to a flyer and never showed a sign of weakness.

And at the moment that is exactly what Great Phil Scolari's team have done. I do not think that Mourinho would have had a pop at his team after winning the Champions League in the opening game 4-0. But that's what the manager of Brazil made on Tuesday as he was unhappy at his side is too gung-ho against Bordeaux.
