Cristiano Ronaldo: let me play

Cristiano Ronaldo is so desperate to play for Chelsea over the weekend that has been persistent manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The 23-year-old, who returned from an injury in the Champions League clash against Villarreal on Wednesday, is bursting to play against Luiz Felipe Scolari party on Sunday.

Ronaldo despite being linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, the midfielder is enthusing as always playing for the Red Devils. Ferguson said: "He is nibbling at my ear all the time."

"He has trained very well and is a natural athlete, so I have no compunction in this regard. I just have to decide whether the time is right."

United have only scored four times in five competitive games so far this season, with the sole striker Carlos Tevez found the net. And Ferguson believes his side only has to start finding the back of the net to get their season underway.

He said: "We are simply not scoring enough goals to turn the whole thing round. But it will come. In October we will be okay. I have no doubt in my mind about that."

Although Dimitar Berbatov is in a position, it seems very unlikely the £ 30million man will play alongside Ronaldo, Tevez and Wayne Rooney. If any of the quartet were walking down in current form would be Rooney, who looked a shadow of the player who starred for England in Croatia as United drew their week-white.
