Brazil, despite losing prevail penalty

Brazil coach Dunga gave beleaguered some much needed respite making light of a penalty of losing Ronaldinho to beat Chile 3-0 in a World Cup qualifier ™ the Fife on Sunday.

Luis Fabiano notched two goals for Brazil, which had not scored in their last three games, and Robinho was also white, while Ronaldinho's spot-kick was superbly saved by the hosts goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

Brazil defender Kleber and Chile midfielder Jorge Valdivia, playing only his second international match since completing a ten prohibition of indiscipline, were sent off in the second half of a tough but exciting match.

Brazil went from sixth to second in the ten teams South American group with 12 points from seven games, ahead of Argentina on goal difference and two points behind Paraguay. Chile, who have lost their last five matches of Brazil and shipped 21 goals in the process, are sixth with ten points. The first four teams qualify directly for South Africa, and the fifth plays off against the fourth team from the CONCACAF region.

Huge pressure

Dunga came into the game under great pressure after a run of poor results compounded by the fact that the Olympic team, also coached, to win a gold medal in Beijing. The media in Brazil said before the game, but nothing that a victory would put an end to Dunga two-year spell in charge.

Chile created as many chances as the visitors, but Brazil physical strength and finishing power made the difference. "We take our chances and we deserved to win," said Robinho.

Robinho will close in the ninth minute when to be skipped past two defenders and his shot was saved Bravo, while Humberto Suazo missed a sitter for Chile, firing on the crossbar from six meters after a corner.

Brazil went ahead on 21 minutes when Luis Fabiano received in the head to a Ronaldinho free-kick for his first goal in 318 minutes of play, the last having come in a friendly against Canada in June.

Suazo was nearly twice before equalising Brazil won a penalty when Diego was kicked by Marco Estrada. But Ronaldinho, playing his first international since last November, was thwarted when Bravo dived to his right and pushed the ball around the post.

Maicon had a header cleared from the line resulting from the corner, but Brazil increased its advantage in the race halftime when Luis Fabiano won the ball in the air and found Robinho, who scored from the edge of the area.

Kleber was dismissed for a second offence to reserve 47 minutes and continued in Valdivia 62 for a dangerous challenge to Luis Fabiano. Chile pressed forward and had a penalty appeal rejected, but Brazil has always seemed to add to their total in the rest.

The inevitable happened in 83 minutes when, following a centre from the right, Luis Fabiano dominated Gary Medel to score with a shot that went through the legs Bravo.
