Newcastle could go through Marcelino

Newcastle make a move for Real Zaragoza Marcelino Kevin Keegan, if the company with the club. The coach, whose full name is Marcelo Garcia Toral, has been earmarked Newcastle manager Tony Jimenez as a possible successor to Keegan. In fact, the 43-year-old Spanish claimed that in May Newcastle has contacted their representatives.

Marcelino, not to be confused with former defender who had a nightmare spell at St James's Park, quit Real Santander last season after getting the Uefa Cup football for the club. And he made clear at the time that he was willing to move abroad, but finally he was appointed coach in Zaragoza.

Newcastle director of football Dennis Wise said owner Mike Ashley does not want a return to frontline management Leeds after quitting for an executive function. But he press to close friend Gus Poyet, his former No. 2 at Elland Road, to come and work with the new manager in a similar capacity upon whom it Juande Ramos along with Spurs.

A man who should not be taken into account is Alan Shearer. Geordi La legend is the only man whose popularity in Tyneside coincides with that of Keegan. But having overlooked once he is unlikely Ashley and his team consider him again eight months later. More significantly, Shearer not interested in succeeding Keegan - and not just because he is enjoying life as a media pundit.

Shearer is known to have sympathy with Keegan, due to restrictions imposed on him since Wise, Jimenez and talent spotted Jeff Vetere came in. And he would have huge reservations about working at any club with a management structure that had no control over transfer policy.--daily star
