Ronaldo set for LA Galaxy contract

Cristiano Ronaldo has flown to Los Angeles Galaxy to sign a contract… but a contract for a different kind. The Portuguese ace, who has been in the headlines of virtually every day since end of last season, flew to Los Angeles just a few days after his successful ankle surgery to attend the 2008 ESPY Awards.

Once there, he is also expected to sign a contract with a company that will manage the rights of its public image, according to Portuguese television channel SIC. Se cree that the same company that represents American actress Angelina Jolie.

But before he flew to the States, the television station reported that Sir Alex Ferguson himself jetted to Lisbon on Monday to have a talk with Ronaldo, in an attempt to convince the free end of qualifications not sign the Champions League, Real Madrid.

The source, however, said that Sir Alex not close the door completely to the 23 years of age at the possibility of joining the Spanish giants in the near future.

Ronaldo, who is expected to be out for up to three months after surgery to remove damaged cartilage from his right ankle, admitted on Thursday that he could play for LA Galaxy someday in the future, but for the moment, has no intentions to leave Europe.(goal.com)
