The agent of Wayne Rooney, punishable by 18 months of suspension

The Disciplinary Committee of the Football Association (FA) has punished Paul Stretford, the agent of Manchester United player Wayne Rooney, with an 18-month period of disqualification and a fine of 377,000 euros. He succeeded, irregularly shaped, the rights of the front in 2002.

Stretford was found guilty to breaching the rules of Fifa governing their profession. The officer was accused of having committed various misconduct, both in the way of protecting the interests of Rooney as his way of dealing with third parties. A commission of the FA considered "proven" seven of the nine charges filed against Stretford.

In turn, the representative gave questionable testimony to the British police. Asked how this had been done with the rights of Rooney. According to the FA, Stretford gave "false and / or misleading witness statements to the police and false and / or misleading testimony to the Crown Court from Warrington."

For all these reasons, joined an additional charge: having signed an eight-year contract with Rooney, six courses over the legal limit. For its part, has stated that Stretford will launch an appeal, immediately after describing the verdict as "a farce".

The suspension does not apply at the moment, it is still necessary to discuss the use of Stretford. In addition, the second half of his disqualification, nine months, did not bear fruit if we do not show other crimes against regulation.
