Super Viola crush Slavia

Fiorentina dominated their Champions League tie with Slavia Prague, winning 2-0 with Alberto Gilardino and a magnificent Adrian Mutu free-kick.

Alessandro Gamberini not recovered from a muscle problem in time, while Massimo Gobbi was surprisingly elected to replace Marco Donadel. Riccardo Montolivo was absent in the Olympic Games duty and Martin Jorgensen wounded. Slavia field a very defensive with only Senkerik in advance. The Viola wore black armbands in honor of former President Enrico Martellini, who died on August 9 age 85.

It took less than four minutes for the Tuscans to break the deadlock, as Mutu put all memories of a possible move to Rome behind him a superb curling free-kick into the top corner. The set piece was nearly 30 meters wide and fairly to the left, but seemed guided by lasers by the Romanian into the next post.

Gilardino has been unable to take full advantage of a free-kick Jorge Vargas, then a cross Gobbi was plucked off the head of the former Milan striker.

It's hard to break a solid and very shy side Slavia, so Zdravko Kuzmanovic problem from a long-range effort that hit just past the post. Santana did well to anticipate and two supporters to turn the ball back into the middle with a kick to Kuzmanovic general downward drive.

Gilardino is not only able to get enough for Santana cross from the right and Luciano Zauri minutes after the center was deflected off his foot for a corner. Gila was even closer with a header to whip the cross Kuzmanovic has just published so far.

Immediately after the resumption Vargas propelled by nearly Slavia goalkeeper back into his own net with an incredibly powerful free-kick from 20 meters.

The second goal came on 57 minutes Gilardino with the first goal in an official jersey Fiorentina. The Prague defence does not refer to the Vargas corner kick effectively and Gila was quick to react by placing a loop towards the far post header from six yards.

Slavia knew we needed a goal and presents another forward in the form of NEC. Another substitute, Belaid product among young people, was set aside to deal with a terrible Mutu in the knee. Fiorentina Sergio Almiron gave its official debut just a week after his transfer from Juventus in exchange for Gobbi right of return.

It was almost 3-0 in 65 minutes, but goalkeeper Vaniak somehow managed to parry Santana both of Gilardino and deviations in a cross from point blank range Mutu.

NEC had timid penalty appeals when he went shoulder to shoulder with Luciano Zauri. Felipe Melo again won the ball in the center of the field and threaded through Gilardino but Vaniak was quick to close it. The goalkeeper also covered immersion Kuzmanovic a free-kick.

Vaniak had a moment of total panic when Mutu tried to curl directly on the corner flag. He got a hand to push outwards, but it is unclear how much of the ball actually crossed the line.

Giampaolo Pazzini and Pablo Daniel Osvaldo Gilardino replaced the tired and Mutu for the final 15 minutes in an attempt to steamroller Slavia Prague and gain greater advantage going into the second leg. There was chaos in another corner kick, as Kroldrup accidentally ended up sitting in a courtyard of the ball and kicked into the crowd to their feet not to push along the line.

Moments later Osvaldo courageously traveled two hard tackles - at least one of whom could have been a penalty - before the defense managed to clear. Pazzini should have done better when turning free header off target from seven meters.
