Hart's heroics save the day Man City


Goalkeeper Joe Hart was Manchester City FC's hero as his two penalty shoot-out saves won the English Premier League club a place in Friday's Uefa Cup first round draw at the expense of FC Midtjylland.



Own goal


Trailing 1-0 in the first leg of origin, the city were under pressure for long periods in Herning, but forced the overtime Chedid Evans glance header deflected off Danny Califf by an own goal with a minute of regulation time remaining. With no more scoring within 30 minutes, a shoot out in which Michael Johnson for the city not before Hart tries to stay out of Jonas Borring and Kolja Afriyie, leaving Vedran Ćorluka send visitors across.



Midtjylland possibilities


The visitors started slowly despite needing a victory and Midtjylland that dominated most of the first half. After seven minutes the unmarked Borring shot was saved by Hart after being created by Jude Ikechukwu Nworuh header. Borring threatened again with a 24th minute volley before Elano tested Midtjylland goalkeeper Lasse Heinze with a left foot effort. Heinze also called into action just before the break to end a strike by Martin Petrov.



Babatunde threat


City tried up the tempo after the resumption however, was that the hosts could have crossed out substitute Babajide Collins Babatunde three times in the space of 13 minutes. However, a minute's time, Michael Ball's left-wing cross was deflected by Evans to Califfo and on the network, allowing Hart to win the day after the shooting.(uefa.com)
