Ferguson disappointed but not downbeat after calling United


Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson said it was not too disappointed with its opening day gain Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday because many of their players were injured or absent.



Newcastle left Old Trafford with a 1-1 tie, but Ferguson said that although it was not the result we wanted was acceptable under the circumstances. "It is not the outcome I would have liked but in the context of the season I can not be too disappointed," said Ferguson.



With Cristiano Ronaldo missing after ankle surgery, Owen Hargreaves out with a knee injury, Carlos Tevez missing because of a family in mourning Argentina, Anderson in the Olympic Games and the suspension of Nani, United States began with Campbell in Fraize the attack and had some youth into the unknown Bench.

"Everyone knows we need two or three good players," he said, "and I hope we can find some as good as them. They were outstanding today."
