Shevchenko talks collapse

The talks between Chelsea and AC Milan Andriy Shevchenko on the possible return to San Siro have collapsed, the Italian club's chief executive said on Thursday. "The talks are deadlocked Shevchenko at the time," Adriano Galliani told reporters.

"Milan were interested in taking the player on loan with the right to buy Chelsea but said no because I wanted to complete a sale, therefore, negotiations are over."

The Ukraine striker spent seven successful years at Milan before moving to English Premier League side Chelsea in 2006. But he has struggled in the London club with the form and fitness problems.

Italian and British media have reported that owners of the club Silvio Berlusconi and Roman Abramovich recently discussed the future of Shevchenko.

Milan went big in recruiting Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho in the close season and, therefore, struggling for funds to buy another permanent.--reuters
