Final Coppa: Roma-Inter Again!

AS Roma advanced to its fourth straight final Coppa Italia, tying Catania 1-1 Thursday night

to advance on 2-1 aggregate in their home-and-home series.

Roma will play Internazionale of Milan, which eliminated Lazio on Wednesday. Inter won the

cup in 2005 and 2006, and Roma defeated Inter last year.

Alberto Aquilani put Roma ahead when he converted a penalty kick in the 27th minute, but

Cristian Silvestri headed in a free kick two minutes later.

Roma’s Marco Cassetti admits that his side are getting used to playing Inter in the final of the

Coppa Italia and he is relishing the chance to do battle with them once again.

The two teams will meet for a record fourth consecutive time in the final after both sides beat

Catania and Lazio respectively. Inter won two of those finals with Roma winning one last year

and now the Giallorossi are looking to even the scores. “It’s becoming a habit, the two teams in

the final are the ones who deserve to be there,” Cassetti told Il Romanista

“We will have home advantage though. Tonight, we started with the right approach, after

they equalised we kept the ball and it’s important to take this result back to Rome. We are on the

right path even if we can always improve a little. The final against Inter is going to be a fiery one

but we are ready for them. As for Catania, they played well even though they had put out a

second string side.”

With Inter looking like they will win the title, this may be Roma’s opportunity to exact revenge

on Roberto Mancini’s side. They did it last year and no doubt they will be hoping to do it this time

around.(source: yahoo/goal.com)
