The Spanish Football Federation has suspended three games to Chelsea striker Didier Drogba for throwing a coin to stand in a match of the Carling Cup. In addition, it has imposed a sanction of two matches Alex Ferguson, Manchester United's technical for protesting a referee last November 1.
The sanction has been imposed after the FA and police investigated an incident last Wednesday in which the attacker threw a coin at the stands, in the direction of the fans of Burnley, the dispute during a match of the Cup League set to cost the Stamford Bridge in London, its elimination from the tournament.
The player himself admitted on Monday the charge of violent conduct and apologized to those fans. "Drogba comply with such a penalty with immediate effect," the FA announced through a press release.
At the time, acknowledged that the striker was sorry for what happened, what justified by arguing that it was produced a "hot" and explained that he had simply returned to the stands something he had previously been thrown by the fans.
The punishment is a huge blow to the Ivorian international, who so far this season has only been five commitments holder in the league because of a knee injury. His partner and captain, Frank Lampard, had shown its public support for Drogba, noting that a sanction "would send the wrong message to the fans."
For his part, Alex Ferguson also was suspended two games for "inappropriate conduct" after their protests to the referee at the eleventh day of the Premier League. Nothing more to complete the Manchester United-Hull City (4-3), the Scots jumped out to the field technical reproach Mike Dean for the second yellow for Michael Turner after a post about Michael Carrick.
The penalty for Ferguson, 66, will enter into force as of December 2, so will miss the first leg of the Carling Cup to Blackburn Rovers and the 16th day of the Premier, before the Sunderland. This is the second penalty in less than a year for the coach of United, which has already been punished by two games last December after insulting the referee Mark Clattenburg during a clash with the Bolton.
