FIFA concerned about the manipulations in wagers

FIFA is concerned about the manipulations of the parties and by the growing market of sports betting, that its president Joseph Blatter described as a double-edged sword.

"For me, betting and gambling are dangerous," said the chairman of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) in Congress "Sports Betting: symbiosis and dangers" to be held in Zurich.

"There are no limits. It may even be betting that the second part of a party is another coach on the bench," added the Swiss.

Carsten Koerl of Schweizer Sportradar AG, which investigates illegal nets in the lucrative market, said meanwhile that there is manipulation in all European countries.

According Koerl, which works on behalf of FIFA, the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) and the German Football Association (DFB) and cooperates with 250 runners from around the world bets, just in the last two years were illegally influenced 25 matches of the UEFA Cup, first round.

Meanwhile handled in Turkey even youth matches with less than eight years.

"This is an internationally organized crime which also includes the component of laundering money," said the founder of Radar who advocates the enactment of "a European law against manipulation of matches."

For his part, Blatter reminded the fraud case of German referee Robert Hoyzer as a measure against tampering and again demanded the introduction of professional referees.

"In the German Bundesliga atodavĂa no professional referees. And anybody who says that there is no money for it. We have to protect those who could be targeted by such methods or who have already been victims of them," said Blatter.

Wolfgang Feldner, chief strategist of the Earls Warning Sytemm GmbH, estimated at 350,000 million dollars (about 272,000 million euros) annually to the gross game in sports betting, which is the amount you bet is paying less profit. "Cite figures of trust is not easy," Feldner said.

The early warning system ( "Early Warning") was tested for the first time before the World Cup 2006 in Germany and is under the supervision of FIFA, which regards the handling "a serious threat to football (Blatter).

The company cooperates with international corridors of betting, controlled the Olympic Games in Beijing as well as the qualifying matches for the World Cup in South Africa 2010.

Felner meanwhile warned that "there are a number of possibilities to discover that no manipulations." The classic example is the favorite loses one of the many variants to enrich themselves since they can bet on a range of possible details. Furthermore, as individual players in tennis, are easier to influence.

Absolute security is not deceive in sports betting can not do so. But a global market regulation, transparency and cooperation with authorities would be solutions.

In international football there was in years past again and again manipulations. "They need us and abused us," said Blatter.

So vehemently rejected rumors that the World Cup in 2006 in the quarter finals matches of Brazil-Ghana and England-Ecuador the thing was not clean. "There is the slightest hint about it," stressed the president of FIFA.
