Anelka To Start Ahead Of Drogba

Avram Grant is poised to let Nicolas Anelka start tonight's Champions League tie at former club Fenerbahce.

Reports this morning have suggested that Avram Grant is ready to drop Didier Drogba having lost patience with him.

whereas Drogba seems likely to leave the Bridge in the summer, Anelka is very much a signing for the years to come.

Nevertheless, the striker is unhappy at being played out of position by Grant and hardly spoke of his boss in the highest terms on Tuesday.

"The manager decides what you do and he knows what he is doing. I will do my best on the left or the right," said Anelka.

"We have to work at it also in training. We have first to do it in training, then do it in games. As long as we are winning it is OK."

Nevertheless, the French international looks set to earn a recall as a centre forward this evening, where his knowledge of the Fenerbahce side he left back in the summer of 2006 will prove useful.
