Chelsea Destroy Middlesbrough 5-0

Chelsea completely outclassed Middlesbrough to extend their lead at the top of the table in the Premier League. Salomon Kalou started the defeat after stroke in Juliano Belletti's shot had been blocked and Belletti was 2-0 with an impressive 30-yard shot.

Kalou got his second when his low strike was deflected Frank Lampard David weather before diving header rounded off a superb break Chelsea. Florent Malouda exploded in the fifth after Nicolas Anelka had beaten the post.

Chelsea intention was clear from the start - move the ball quickly, playing with fluency and maintain control and possession. They achieved their objectives to the extent that they barely had a kick Boro from the start. And while Boro did not pressure the ball, Kalou, Malouda and full-back Wayne Bridge José Bosingwa and, in particular, the area of operation.

It is through a bridge that forms the opener as his Chelsea left-back fell to the cross Belletti, whose shot ricochet against two Boro defenders allowing Kalou to stroke the ball in. Chelsea more goals seemed inevitable, since they completely dominated by a Boro side short of confidence after only one victory in five games.

Only a last block of Jonathan Grounds Lampard shot prevented the delivery of the final touch on a Malouda cross from the right. Shortly after the interval, Malouda raced clear after Pleas misjudged the bounce of the ball, but the big end when I should have shot annotated.

But there is no such profligacy from Belletti when it comes to the magnificent 30 yards and arrow a shot into the top corner to finally give Chelsea the second goal they deserved. The sensational strike had the effect of further deflate Boro - and Chelsea were in uproar.

Malouda's exquisite cut-back found Kalou, and with everything that goes Chelsea's way, the striker's low shot was deflected out of climate keeper Ross Turbull no chance. But if the third Chelsea goal was lucky, his fourth was pure class.

Kalou and Anelka exchanged passes assault came as the Blues ahead before Kalou Dinka a perfect cross for Lampard to send a diving header into the corner. Worse was to come Boro as four minutes later Anelka broke and sent in a low shot that Turnbull could only spill into the post and tucked the rebound Malouda.

Turnbull did much better when they arrived shortly after the photo well to keep Anelka, but by then Boro had been embarrassed and outplayed by a Chelsea team missing seven first team players. The Blues remain unbeaten in 2008 and are in brilliant form under Luis Felipe Scolari.
