Cristiano Ronaldo has pledged to stay with Manchester United, at least for the next season, but still wants to join Real Madrid, according to a Portuguese newspaper interview published on Wednesday.
The end Portugal Publico said he believed that the Spanish champions presented a "great bargain" after having expressed his desire to meet with them.
But the 23-year-old promised to play next season with his "heart and soul" for the Red Devils after his 42 goals led the Champions League and Premier League glory in May.
Ronaldo is contracted to United for nearly four years and manager Alex Ferguson has been steadfast in refusing to sell the player who accumulated 42 goals last season.
Ronaldo apologized for sparking the gap between United and Madrid. United complained to Fifa on the Spanish club's persistent attempts to lure away Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United.
Football's governing body said that there were no rules broken, but Madrid was warned of possible legal consequences of induction of a player to his contract without just cause.
