Brilliant Chelsea batter Bordeaux


Frank Lampard opened the scoring as Chelsea began their Champions League campaign with a resounding 4-0 home win at Bordeaux in Group A. England star Lampard headed by home early, while Joe Cole, Florent Malouda and Nicolas Anelka were all on target to a comfortable victory for the Blues at Stamford Bridge.



The home side were quickly on its way and took the lead with 14 minutes on the clock when José Bosingwa was clear on the right and his centre was magnificent powerfully headed home by Lampard, arriving late into the box.



Anelka was denied by Ulrich Rame to the visitors goal, while John Terry headed a Lampard free-kick wide as the Blues continued to dominate - grabbing his second on the half hour mark when Lampard's curling corner asintió to the house after near Cole.



Lampard somehow volley wide from close range before the whole French finally showed some threat forward Fernando Cavenaghi Fizz only when a shot from long distance.



The second period proved to be much more even affair - Anelka shot in the side netting from a sharp angle, while Michael Ballack made his return from injury to replace Deco. Chelsea Malouda added the third with eight minutes to go when he was fed by an intelligent Lampard Shake before lashing past Rame from just inside the area.



The outstanding Ricardo Carvalho headed against the bar, while Anelka shaved the post as Phil Scolari's men pushed for fourth at the end - and were rewarded for their persistence when Juliano Belletti is long-range strike crashed against the bar Anelka, but was responsible for sweeping home the rebound.
