The Brazilians Mancini and Adriano scored a goal each to hand José Mourinho's side Inter Milan a 2-0 Group B Champions League victory over Panathinaikos Tuesday to an exhausted Olympic stadium. Inter coach Mourinho sent by Adriano in the last minute of the contest and the striker arrived in good score in 85 minutes and put the Italian side top of their group.
Adriano took a perfect pass from Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who split the Panathinaikos defence and the Brazilian had no trouble lobbing the ball over the head of keeper Mario Galinovic. Ibrahimovic also assisted in the first goal in 27 minutes of play. El control the ball from midfield and fought past two defenders before unloading a cargo Panathinaikos Mancini, who blasted his close range effort past Galinovic.
In the 42nd minute Panathinaikos came close to drawing when Bryce Moon defender blasted the ball just inside the penalty area and an Inter defender deflected the ball hit the crossbar as' keeper Julio Cesar saw motionless. The hosts had their first chance in the second minute of play when Inter defender Ivan Cordoba kicked a shot off the Panathinaikos striker Dimitris Salpingidis seems to be that way for the network.
Six minutes later, a free-kick low of Panathinaikos' Marcelo Mattos went just wide of the left post. Ibrahimovic missed a golden opportunity to score in 10 minutes when he took a perfect pass Maicon closely, but his shot was weak and trickled beyond the left post.
Three minutes later, a bullet shot from outside the penalty box Ricardo Quaresma was punched away by a diving Galinovic and 18 minutes in a burst of Ibrahimovic was again rejected by the Greek team's' keeper.
In the second half Panathinaikos seemed the most likely team to score. A shot of Cleyton failed to meet the goal in the 52 th minute, Gilberto a hard shot went just wide on 59 minutes and a free-kick from substitute Andreas Ivanschitz almost caught between defending sleep in the 68 th minute but the ball rebounds in front of Cesar who pushed him out of danger.
One last opportunity for the Greek team came in the 76 th minute when substitute Lazaros Hristodoulopoulos' explosion was tip away by a diving Cesar.
