Wayne Rooney earned Manchester United a draw and extended their lead over Chelsea to three points after a pulsating encounter at the Riverside.
Cristiano Ronaldo gave the visitors an early lead when he converted Michael Carrick's cross.
But Afonso Alves's cool strike, his first for Boro, hauled the hosts level and he put them ahead just after half-time with a fine curling effort.
But Rooney turned in Ji-Sung Park's cross from the right to save United in FA CUP.
More to follow.
